John was born in Evanston Illinois in December of 1938. His work has been written about in the New York Times and various local Illinois newspapers. He has been working in wood since 1998. John moved to Lopez Island Washington in 2018 from Antioch Illinois. While living in Illinois John was with galleries from the north side of Chicago to Racine Wisconsin. Since moving to Lopez Island his woods of choice are alder, cherry and willow which were headed for the wood stove. Discarded wood is fascinating as are people, as you never know what lays beneath the bark or within a person until you get to know either of them.
