I have been interested in making art for many years as I am an avid collector. I tried different art forms- weaving,, basket making, photography and then I tried jewelry and decided this held my interest. I was attracted to copper at first as it was easy to work with and a fun color. I have always been attracted to recycled objects and purchase my copper from a recycling spot in Bellingham. I like to challenge myself how to use different found objects. I love to learn new techniques and incorporate them in my work. I have taken many classes in Bellingham, Lynden, Seattle, Mexico, New Mexico and have my own studio.
I love to travel which has influenced my work. I like the Mexican culture and use elements from there. I purchase stones from my travels to Tucson, New Mexico, Chile, Thailand and Vietnam. I love color and learned how to enamel, powder coat, sandblast items then use colored pencils. I like sterling silver as it is beautiful. I like using mixed metals in my work as I like how they work together. I decided to create some specific Lopez items- since I love earring I made them first and a larger Lopez island shape for your enjoyment.
